New Cabin Project Underway!
Cabin Birch/Elm or 5/6, depending on which decade you attended camp, holds a special place in the hearts and memories of many of our campers and staff. From flashlight tag at lights out to circling up with your friends for cabin devotions, arriving early to get your favorite bunk or bedtime stories told by your favorite counselor, these memories last a lifetime!
For more than fifty years, the cabin buildings have served thousands of campers and guests. They have been updated several times, including a complete renovation in 1995. They have served our guests well!
However, as times have changed and people’s needs and wants have changed, our cabins simply do not meet the needs of many of our guests. The lack of indoor bathrooms and the fact that the cabins are not ADA accessible makes it difficult for many of our guests to enjoy the Orchard Hill experience.
In order to meet the needs of our current guests and those we cannot currently serve, we need to construct new cabins. The new housing will be ground level with ramps and sidewalks to make them fully ADA accessible. Each building will include ADA accessible bathrooms and showers and each building in the cabin area will be connected with sidewalks to create access for all guests, regardless of their mobility.
We now plan to replace the five original cabins with five new cabins. The new cabins will feature four individual guest rooms with bathrooms and showers attached to each room. Each cabin will be ADA accessible so that every guest can attend Camp Orchard Hill. While the buildings will change, new memories will be created in the new cabins by our current and future campers and staff.
Each cabin will cost $300,000 with a total project cost of 1.5 million. We plan to have the first new cabin ready for the summer 2025 season and build two new cabins each year over the next three years.
