Every one of our January and February WinterBlast retreats are sold out and we even added a weekend in March to accommodate the groups that weren’t able to get in. Although the weather hasn’t been very winter like, it hasn’t affected the experience of the students and leaders. They love the program, food, Creature Clash competitions, talent show/trivia nights and the worship and chapel sessions. God is at work and many students shared about the impact in their lives!
“I feel unburdened, free, and comforted. I shared things that I have been going through that I never felt comfortable enough to state aloud. I had very great conversation with both leaders and fellow students alike.”
“After struggling for about a year I gave my life to Jesus. Winter blast changed my life. Thank you so much!”
“My brother just passed away, so the theme “through the fire” was really relevant to me and my little sister (this was her first retreat). I was reminded that God is good through these things, and that He is hurting with us.”
Construction is progressing on the new Fireside Lodge and we plan to have it open in time for summer programs. With the support of our camp family, the matching gift challenge was met at the end of the year providing a combined $313,000 to build the new Fireside Lodge debt free! This new facility will not only better meet the needs of our existing guests but will enable us to meet the needs of those with physical disabilities.
If early registrations are any indication, we’re in for another sold out summer at camp. Last year we set the all-time attendance record at camp with 4,310 campers. This year on February 1st Day Camp registrations were up 70% over last year. Incredible! The greatest part of that is we have the opportunity to share the good news of the Gospel with each and every person who attends summer camp.
With these incredible registration numbers comes the need for even more staff than last summer and last summer was a challenge. We’re in need of camp counselors, kitchen staff, lifeguards, maintenance, snack shop and camp nurses. We covet your prayers as we recruit staff and appreciate your help in spreading the word.
Thank you for your prayers and support that enables all of this incredible ministry to happen at Camp Orchard Hill!
Gratefully,
Jim
